Eliza Mason, PhD

After years of working and volunteering at different farms, Eliza discovered the perfect spot to found Lilliputopia in Monroe, Oregon. This place was created to serve as a model for sustainability, agricultural research, and local community building.

Eliza Mason holds a B.S. in molecular biology, a doctorate in microbiology and works as a contract editor of scientific manuscripts. She serves as a director on the board of the Benton County Soil and Water Conservation District. She hunts for wild mushrooms in her spare time.

Thorin Nielson

Imagineer and Handyman

It turns out that leaving a graphic design career in Portland is not that hard. Eliza simply suggested that there was an unprecedented opportunity to get in on the ground floor of an up-and-coming tiny farm operation in Monroe. She said you can choose any job title you want, but you will have to be paid in enchiladas and beer. So it was basically a dream-come-true.

Thorin is focused on many infrastructure and building projects on the property, often using natural building processes. He is also working on developing other homesteading skills, like baking and fermentation.
